Highlights: London's Foxtrot Oscar by Gordon Ramsay

As we've mentioned at the beginning, we're both foodies. We love eating new and interesting dishes. And we're both fans of Gordon Ramsay. He's creative, charismatic and fun to watch. He also dumbs his recepies down just enough so that you have no problems cookin' them :) Anyways, after hours spent on watching Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen, The F Word, etc., we've decided to save up some money and go to one of Ramsay's restaurants in London.

So in June 2013 we booked a table for two at Foxtrot Oscar in Chelsea. As it is advertised on Gordon Ramsay's website, it focuses on great seasonal produce and crreates dishes out of high quality British ingredients.
An appetizer before an appetizer? We got some tasty hot buns!

The restaurant seen from the street

First of all, it's in a very pretty neighbourhood, near Royal Hospital in Chelsea. The whole area looks posh and sophisticated. However, the location of the restaurant isn't that magical - it's next to a Tesco Express... A bit of a slap on a cheek there, eh Mr Ramsay? That didn't discourage us, and we bravely entered the restaurant. The service was very nice and attentive. We were directed to our table right away by the Maitre d', and our waitress brought us some water. The menu looked amazing - clean, simple, clear - it was very easy to pick your dish from the choice of four or five appetizers, mains and desserts.

APPETIZERS

We've both decided to try chilled tomato gazpacho with cucumber and black olives. It wasn't our first gazpacho experience, but I don't think we have the right to compare an original Spanish gazpacho bought in a supermarket in a carton box to the one we got served.

The presentation was superb - we got served soup plates with some cucumber and chopped olives, and then, the waitress poured the gazpacho. It was really rich in colour and in taste. The only downside was the spicyness of the soup - it was pretty heavy in chili flavour, so it was too spicy for us.

MAINS

As for mains, we decided to get some pork chop with crushed peas and spice tomato chutney and pan-fried gnocchi, oven-dried tomatoes, girolles, goat’s cheese and rocket. The pork chop was heavenly! I have never eaten such a tender cut of meat in my life! At first glance, it seemed fatty, but it really contained a small layer of fat. The crushed green peas were tasty, and slightly on the sweet side, whereas the chutney was sour. I wasn't a fan of chutney untill I tried it all together - the pork chop, the chutney and the peas. Perfect culinary experience!

Gnocchi were amazing as well, tho vegetarian. The presentation was really beautiful, and the flavour was very balanced. It trully was an unforgettable dish!

DESSERTS

Both our mains were pretty big portion-wise, but we really had to try the desserts! Our choice for that day: sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and Belgian chocolate mousse with honeycomb and ice cream. Both desserts were amazing - sticky toffee took me to a different toffee dimension, and the melting vanilla ice cream just provided a great balance to the sweet and sticky toffee.

The Belgian chocolate mousse - well, let me just tell you that was the best mousse in history of chocolate mousses! Neither of us has ever tasted such a deep chocolate-y mousse. Oh my God, just writing about it makes my mouth water...!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE:
Foxtrot Oscar is definitely worth visiting! The food is amazing, the service is nice, the whole design is homely and not overwhelming. It was by far our best culinary experience so far. And we will definitely be back for more!!!
